Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of heroes who will split off from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party understands precisely where to head next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his own means, entering the hidden lair, striking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as important members in House Halovar could assist the group reach locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the traitor.
What’s Next?
