Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult year, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.
The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with former trainer his previous coach.
Currently working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's initial trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hard court after spring of that year.
Success also signifies the Russian has secured 21 titles at twenty-one different events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my two daughters at once, so to win a trophy is really nice," said ranked player Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in that event earlier this year.
His defensive play style and recurring reactions on court had led some to doubt if his capacity to play at the top level was concluded.
Yet the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and play assertively, supported by an better serving game.
The champion came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the final five games to gain the advantage.
Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a final set.
Moutet defended 4 early-game break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian won the break to 15 to close out the victory.
Fittingly, the winner secured the title with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
